(Sorry, couldn’t resist using an old fave from the Valley Girl Handbook. I’m a sucker for alliteration.) Twitter’s revamp this week introduced a whole new set of special tricks, which are outlined in this article from Mashable. Good stuff!
I came across this article from Mashable today on how to jump start your career by becoming an online influencer. In today’s world of break-neck-speed communications and 24/7 marketing, isn’t that what it’s all about? Whether you are trying to build an online presence for yourself, your boss or your client, the article offers some great tips, such as:
- Content is king. If you want to become an online influencer, you absolutely must have some type of online content.
- Connecting your story with a current trend, such as the Kim Kardashian divorce or Chaz Bono getting bumped from Dancing with the Stars, can boost your SEO. (How’s that for sucking up to Google?) Of course, it doesn’t have to be such a frivolous topic.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for the big interviews, and don’t be bullied into giving up your audience numbers if they’re still low. Love it!
The point is, if you want to be an influencer, you have to actually take steps to become an influencer. Don’t just sit back and expect people to start caring about your LinkedIn page or Twitter profile.
